About me

I am a Consultant Psychiatrist specialised in General Adult Psychiatry.

I completed my Medical Studies at Paris-Diderot University (France) and Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain). I then completed my residency in General Adult Psychiatry in Parc Tauli Hospital (Barcelona, Spain). After a fellowship at ORYGEN Youth Centre in Melbourne (Australia), where I received training in early intervention in mental health, I obtained a substantive post as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Parc Tauli Hospital (Barcelona, Spain).

During my years of clinical practice in Spain, I was Coordinator of a Clinical and Research Program for Early Intervention and Detection of Psychosis at Parc Tauli Hospital in Barcelona. I was co-founder and Consultant Psychiatrist at a Private Psychiatry Practice specialised in English-Speaking clients living in Barcelona.

I then moved to London to continue my professional career at the NHS in Kensington and Chelsea, at one of the country’s leading mental health NHS Foundation Trusts, where I currently hold a part-time job. As part of my professional development, I am currently conducting research at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London.

I have always been very interested in keeping updated about the latest advances and treatments in Psychiatry. To that aim, I obtained a European Certificate in Mood and Anxiety Disorders by the University of Maastricht (The Netherlands). I am currently enrolled in a Masters Degree in Neuroimaging by the University of Edinburgh. As part of my continuing professional development, I attend courses on up-to-date psychiatric prescribing and psychotherapy.

I also see clients privately in my Consulting rooms at The Medical Chambers Kensington, in Kensington.

I have a biological and cognitive-behavioural approach to Mental Health and believe in promoting a healthy style of living and providing psychoeducation as a way to help the person understand and be better able to deal with their psychological, emotional or mental health problems. Therefore, although I have extensive experience in psychopharmacology, I always try to explore other possible treatment alternatives (such as psychotherapy) before considering a pharmacological treatment.

In order to maintain a close liaison with primary care physicians (GP), I write regularly or contact by phone to provide relevant clinical updates of all my clients. You can find out more about my approach to Mental Health problems by having a look at my Blog.
