I have a biological and cognitive-behavioural approach to Mental Health and believe in promoting a healthy style of living and providing psychoeducation as a way to help the person understand and be better able to deal with their psychological, emotional or mental health problems.
Although I have extensive experience in psychopharmacology, I usually explore other treatment alternatives before considering starting a pharmacological treatment.
You can find out more about my approach to Mental Health problems by having a look at my Blog.
The best six doctors anywhere
And no one can deny it
Are sunshine, water, rest, and air
Exercise and diet.
These six will gladly you attend
If only you are willing
Your mind they'll ease
Your will they'll mend
And charge you not a shilling.
(Nursery rhyme quoted by Wayne Fields, What the River Knows, 1990)
Writing a blog is a good way to follow the news and current research that impact my areas of expertise, while providing my clients and readers with relevant and up-to-date information on Mental Health issues.
By writing this blog I intend to raise awareness and decrease stigma about various Mental Health and Medical problems.
I hope you enjoy reading this blog, and I sincerely thank you for stopping by!
